What the scripture says about retardmaxxing.
Jacob, Laban, and an ancient lesson about what we focus on and what we reproduce.
The Bible may explain why retardmaxxers and those who don’t bother introspecting, win. While there are a few different stories that come to mind, Jacob’s dance with his father in law is the one that best illustrates this.
It’s a very old lesson in the Bible; Genesis 30 recounts the story of Jacob and his father-in-law, Laban.
As Laban’s son-in-law, Jacob looks after the sheep, the land, the house. Typical ~1900 BC farmer stuff.
Jacob’s been toiling away for the love of his life. Laban is trying to get out of parting with his wealth. Jacob asks for all the spotted and speckled flock much to Laban’s delight. Strange, but whatever, right; Laban promptly takes those out and keeps them away from the rest of the flock so they don’t mate and increase in count. Laban’s got this in the bag!
Jacob, clearly knowing something about the universe and how Adonai has set up His natural law MacGyvers his way into creating something resembling stripes on branches and then placed them in front of mating sheep. Especially the strong ones. The Bible specifically records the fact that it’s in ‘front of their face’ as they drink water / mate… and therefore reproduce offspring that are speckled, spotted or streaked. The original hustler, ladies and gentlemen.
Long and short of it, Jacob ends up a baller rich dude, much to Laban’s displeasure.
Ignoring the science (and there’s much debate about this: Jacob may have been quite a bit more astute than some simple-minded commentators would lead us to think), one core interpretation of this story is that whatever you focus on is what you’ll reproduce.
In modern times, it seems to be gaining popularity under the idea of ‘manifesting’, positive affirmations, etc… Of course, chads from history have accomplished impossible things through seemingly nothing more than sheer will power. (I know of one man in this century who seems to have managed to push the boundaries on rocket science, electric tech, neuroscience, etc… all through just willingly chewing glass and staring at the abyss. Being on the spectrum helps.) Maybe they also figured out an ancient secret: the immutable law that Adonai set in motion when he spoke the elements into existence. Fortunately, the secret remains open to everyone. They only need to focus on it.
